War Horse British Dorset Regiment Uniform

A British Dorset Regiment Uniform worn in Steven Spielberg’s 2011 adaptation of the World War I drama, War Horse. In the film, young Albert (Jeremy Irvine) enlists to serve in World War I after his beloved horse is sold to the cavalry. Uniforms of this style can be seen worn by British soldiers in 1918 as the Dorset Regiment battles in France. This uniform includes a helmet, jacket, trousers, boots, leg wraps, and a rig with numerous pouches. The uniform is custom made using primarily wool fabric, and decorated with patches from the 1st Dorsetshire Regiment. The jacket is adorned with brass buttons, however one of the buttons is missing on the front lapel. The slacks, which are made from the same wool material, close with plastic buttons. Also worn around the legs are wool wraps which include a string allowing them to be tied, and a pair of black leather boots with “10” written on the tongue. The helmet features a hard shell with leather cushioning and has been wrapped in a canvas material. The accessory pack is made from nylon and includes a wrapped canteen with a cork lid, a foam rubber canister that is painted to appear metallic, and a rolled up tarp. The ammunition pockets have been stuffed with wood blocks, giving them the impression of being full. Please note that this costume was custom made and does not include any sizing information. The piece exhibits some wear due to production use, including mud stains from filming in the trenches, and a missing button on the jacket, however the piece remains in overall very good worn condition
