Superman Lives - Nicolas Cage's Superman Chest Emblem

(Warner Bros.) This chest emblem was created during the early stages of pre-production of Superman Lives, the title of a Superman film which was never filmed. It was in production until it was scrapped, along with several other Superman movie ideas on a seemingly endless Superman movie project, which eventually became “Superman Returns”. The emblem is made of molded rubber that features the iconic “S” in silver for the projected look of the new Superman suit. A very rare artifact from the doomed production. The emblem remains in very good condition and measures 14.5″ x 7″.

There were several different types of suits tested with Nicolas Cage, in particular many silver and black suits for the “regeneration” scene, some with lighting built in. This emblem would have been for the main suit used outside of the short regeneration scenes. There is a documentary that came out that uncovers the amazing and sad story of how this production was progressing and finally ended: The Death of “Superman Lives”: What Happened?
