Steve Mcqueen and Dustin Hoffman Screen Worn Prison

These two prison uniform pants were worn by the characters “Henri ”Papillon” Charriere,” portrayed by Steve McQueen, and “Louis Dego,” portrayed by Dustin Hoffman, in the 1973 motion picture, “Papillon.” The faded red and white striped pants have the original Western Costume Company labels sewn in with the names “Dustin Hoffman” and “Steve McQueen” (respectively) clearly typed. The pants have been professionally framed in a 57″ x 44″ black shadowbox display. A production still of both characters is mounted to the side, with a brass plaque which reads: “Papillon / Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman screen worn prison uniform pants.” Mr. McQueen and Mr. Hoffman are seen wearing these pants throughout various parts of the film as their characters are serving sentences on Devil”s Island, a notorious island prison in French Guiana. “Papillon,” based on the best-selling novel of the same name, follows the story of Papillon; a petty criminal unjustly convicted of murder, serving life imprisonment in a French penitentiary. The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Score and Steve McQueen was nomination for a Golden Globe for Best Actor in the Drama category. The pants are in good screen used condition and are accompanied by a letter of authenticity. Estimate $2,300 – $2,700 Starting Bid $100
