SFX Superman figure in Niagara Falls shot - Superman II

(Warner Bros., 1980) This Superman figure, measuring fully 8½ ft. long and made of foam with an expertlyapplied red-and-blue color scheme, was used for the sequence where Clark Kent quickly transforms into Superman in order to save a tourist who had fallen into the river. The special effects prop was originally acquired from a security guard who worked on the Niagara Falls set of Superman II, and retrieved it from the river after the scene was shot. Although the final scene was done in CGI, this piece was most likely used as a screen marker. A great prop from one of the most exciting sequences of the film. The cape and one of the arms are both recreations, made to complete the display, as the originals were lost/broken after the fall. Estimate $4,000 – $6,000
