Robert Redford cardigan sweater from The Natural

Robert Redford cardigan sweater from The Natural. (TriStar, 1984) This custom-made oatmeal colored wool sweater with shawl collar was worn by the character Roy Hobbs, portrayed by actor Robert Redford, in the Academy Award nominated 1984 motion picture The Natural. The garment was knitted by Broadway Knitting Mills (the knitting industry leader since it opened in 1920), which modified a loom to match a cable knit from the 1920’s era per the costume designer Bernie Pollack’s specifications. The sweater has remnants of stage blood from the scene where Mr. Redford’s character, Hobbs, is shot. No bullet holes were made in the sweater because Mr. Redford would not allow one of his favorite pieces of wardrobe to be permanently damaged. Mr. Redford wore the sweater off camera many times during the production, as he was fond of wearing period clothes after working on the film The Great Gatsby in 1974. After The Natural wrapped Mr. Redford gave the sweater as a gift to the person that facilitated its construction at the knitting company and it has been in their possession ever since. Includes a COA from the film’s costume supervisor. Start Price:6,000.00 USD rnEstimated At:6,000.00 – 8,000.00 USD
