On Her Majestys Secret Service wedding coat

On Her Majesty”s Secret Service, 1969 A wedding coat of ivory chiffon, the full-length diaphanous tiered garment — made for Diana Rigg as Contessa Teresa ”Tracy” di Vincenzo as part of her wedding ensemble, worn over a full-length sleeveless lace trouser-suit [not included in this lot] in the celebrated wedding sequence when Tracy di Vincenzo marries James Bond [George Lazenby] and subsequently when she”s shot by Blofeld [Telly Savalas], when the newly weds fatally pause on the Corniche to remove the floral decorations from Bond”s Aston Martin, in the 1969 United Artists/Eon film On Her Majesty”s Secret Service; and a colour press-clipping showing Diana Rigg wearing the complete wedding ensemble in the film”s marriage sequence — 6x3in. (15.2×7.6cm.); accompanied by a colour reproduction of a corresponding still. Lot Notes On Her Majesty”s Secret Service although not an immediate financial success has become one of the favourite Bond films of all time for Bond fans and officianados. Diana Rigg gave a wonderful performance as the Contessa. As Pfeiffer and Worrall remark Tracy is a truly complex character, alternating between a suicidal, love-starved, spoiled rich girl and a daring and vivacious adventurer. For once, Bond has truly met his equal in every way imaginable… The screenplay, by Richard Maibaum, is arguably one of the best of all the Bond films. Maibaum stuck close to Fleming”s novel and director Peter Hunt made the decision to develop the characters in the film rather than relying on the gadgetry. ..The 007 of OHMSS is a complex, sometimes haunted, soul who finds his life revitalized through his love affair with Tracy di Vicenzo…Although the audience is fully prepared for the tragic consequences of the wedding (Bond cannot continue his sleuthing with a wife in tow..) the sequence in which Tracy is murdered is a profound and devastating moment. In essence the Bond films fully matured with this move… Estimate£1,500 – £2,000 ($2,162 – $2,882
