Merc Det Charge Shotgun

A Det Charge Shotgun used in the Vin Diesel sequel The Chronicles of Riddick. The futuristic style of gun is used by the mercenaries in various scenes throughout the film, and can be seen in action being fired several times by the pilot during the fight on the prison planet Crematoria, where the mercenaries have taken Riddick to claim their bounty. The prop was rechargeable and would have fired off several electrical shots per charge, triggered by a small black slide switch, and it also has a clicker counter to mark the number of charges. The gun is made from a combination of metal and resin that has been painted to resemble metal, and is in fact two barrels, each with five charges, that are joined by thick circular link chain and held together with strong magnets which can be separated with a small amount of force. The barrels are black and had a pump action that slid up and down for appearances and do not perform any other function, however the moving part has since been bolted down. The butts are silver coloured metal and are where the batteries would have been housed during filming (the electronics have not been tested). The gun measures 47cm (18.5”) long.
