Knights of the Round Table armor from Excalibur

(Warner Bros., 1981) This fine suit of armor was originally made for Excalibur by noted British armorer Terry English, and was used throughout the film by several of the Knights of the Round Table. In different scenes, suits of armor would be reconfigured to suit multiple actors, including Percival, and Arthur himself. This suit was also worn in the film by the stunt rider (as a Knight), Bronco McLaughlin. (All the original helmets for the suits or armor were given to the actors playing the Knights of the Round Table, as gifts at the end of filming). In 1998 this suit was used in a commercial for the Chevy Blazer “Like a Rock” ad campaign, and was later used in a WD40 commercial. After these two commercials, Terry English gave this suit to his apprentice, Dragon Dronet, in exchange for pieces of an original 18th century suit of armor that Dragon owned, so that Terry could complete a suit from his own personal collection. This suit has since been on display at armor shows, and can be seen in the upcoming Asian martial arts film Shira, to be released in 2005. The suit can be positively identified by the “T Crown” maker’s mark seen clearly on several of the armor pieces, including the chest plate. Includes photographs and a video of the commercial in which the suit appeared. An amazing suit of armor from this great film, handcrafted by one of the best in the business. Estimate $8,000 – $12,000
