Katsumoto’s fighting sword from The Last Samurai

(Warner Bros., 2003) Katsumoto’s (Ken Watanabe) fighting sword is constructed of high-impact resin, designed and manufactured in New Zealand by WETA. It features a Japanese inscription on the blade, similar to Tom Cruise’s sword, though Cruise’s version was not used in the film. The sword was used for the climactic final battle, and was then presented to the Emperor by Algren in the final scene of the film. The blade shows signs of wear from use on set. The handle was designed after an actual antique Samurai sword grip; the handguard exhibits a series of tiny linked monkeys. Estimat $3,000 – $4,000
