Christopher Reeve Superman Iv Costume

A special-effects flying costume worn by Christopher Reeve in Superman IV : The Quest for Peace (Warner Bros., 1987). The multi-piece costume consists of a custom blue knit leotard with the stylized Superman logo sewn into the front, a zipper closure in back, and an embroidered Bermans and Nathans costumer tag with faded typed text reading “Christopher Reeve 4913 Flying Superman IV” with the handwritten inscription “C.F. 2” as well as two strips of cotton at the shoulders with the matching handwritten “C.F. 2.” The distinctive design of the neckline exactly matches the on-screen look. The leotard also has four large snaps on the shoulders where the cape would attach and a set of black pads inserted inside to the underarm area to protect the suit from perspiration. A pair of matching knit tights and red trunks with added belt loops are included, all with similar Bermans and Nathans tags. The feet of the tights are made of a softer knit for added comfort and are seamlessly attached to the tights. The shimmering material is woven in the distinctive pattern used exclusively by Bermans and Nathans for all of their production-made Superman costumes. The trunks and leotard have sewn-in slots where cables would be attached to a flying harness worn under the costume. The costume was gifted to London-Cannon Films Post Production Supervisor for Superman IV Stephen Barker, who has had the costume in his possession since the completion of the production. Accompanied by a copy of the film. Estimate:. $15,000 – $20,000′,
