Bram Stokers Dracula - miniature victims

(Columbia, 1992) A set of eight miniature impaled shadow figures with cross and flag props, seen in the opening sequences of the film when Count Dracula (portrayed by Gary Oldman) rides up to his castle on horseback in an effort to prevent his beloved Mina (portrayed by Winona Ryder) from killing herself. Coppola utilized Victorian era trickery (such as shadows and forced-perspective miniatures) to create a unique period ambiance to the film’s special effects, with fascinating results. Each measure approx. 15 in. tall. Constructed of wood, paper and cloth, with two figures made of thick-cut sheet metal. Accompanied with two Victorian shadow puppets, also made of thick-cut sheet metal, with individual appendages controlled with metal wiring, and mounted on a metal bar with wood handle. These puppets are seen fighting in the nickelodeon theatre in London, after Dracula first meets Mina. Estimate $500 – $700
