Black Hawk Down Hoots (Eric Bana) Desert Camouflage M4 Carbine

A rubber assault rifle used by the character Hoot (Eric Bana) in the Ridley Scott war movie Black Hawk Down. Forced by political pressure to try and capture a local rebel leader, the US military plan and execute a daring snatch and grab in the heart of Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu. But when the mission goes horribly wrong, surrounded on all sides by local militia, it’s up to the soldiers on the ground to save their brethren before it’s too late. This distinctive weapon was used by the Delta Force operator as he fights during the urban combat of the Battle of Mogadishu, trying to help the US Army Rangers fight their way out of the city, and would have been used for scenes where a hero live-firing M4 Carbine was not required. Made of hard rubber with steel armatures for additional reinforcement, the weapon is moulded from a highly modified Colt AR-15 A2 which has been adapted to look like an M4 carbine, and is such a good cast that weapon manufacturer details and serial numbers are clearly visible. A webbing and paracord sling is attached to the butt stock and front sight post. A tactical light and pressure switch would have been attached to the weapon’s barrel and front grip but these were subsequently removed from the weapon after production. Covered in dust from filming in Morocco, the sight post, muzzle brake and sling mounts have seen some damage from use on the production. In an otherwise very good condition, the weapon measures approximately 83cm (32.5”) long.
