Ben Hur (1959) Roman Soldier Helmet

This is a Roman soldier’s helmet from the William Wyler 1959 epic-adventure ”Ben Hur.” In the classic film, after a Jewish prince is betrayed by a Roman friend, he regains his freedom and comes back for revenge. The helmet is made from hand-forged tin or steel, and features a tilting metal ”visor” engraved with Roman figures/images, and a thick, orange colored horse hair crest. (measures approx. 14 1/2″x 9 1/2″x 8″). Oversized item. Additional postage required. This collection of ”Ben Hur” memorabilia came from an estate in New Jersey with the original purchase dating back to the early 70’s from the David Weisz studios auction in Los Angeles. This collector passed away and the 45 year old collection was sold recently at Berman’s Auction Gallery. Oversized item. Additional postage required. Estimate $300 – $500. Starting Bid $50
