Batwing filming miniature from Batman

(Warner Bros., 1989) An exceptionally well-crafted 1/12 scale miniature special effects prop, constructed of polyurethane plastic and fiberglass, and painted in the dark black, gray and gunmetal tones of this shadowy production. Also includes a miniature Michael Keaton figurine in character as Batman piloting the ship (left hand and leg have broken and are missing). This is one of the principal filming miniatures made by The Magic Camera Company for the production, and was created for and used in the crash scene in which Batman is shot down by The Joker and careens into the church in Gotham City center. Some small break-away fins are missing, as they were destroyed in filming; overall, the prop remains in excellent condition. Measures 24 in. long with a 27 in. wingspan. The miniature was originally part of production designer Anton Furst’s personal collection, and later sold at the December 17, 1992 Christie’s South Kensington sale of Hollywood memorabilia. Also comes with a number of photographs of this and other Batwing models in various stages of construction for the film. Estimate$6,000 – $8,000
