Animatronic hand from Bicentennial Man

(Columbia, 1999) Articulated hand constructed of light-weight plastic armor with bronze-painted glove, and supported on an aluminum strut with handgrip for use by the special effects crew. The hand is extensively wired with fiber optic cables and copper wiring, so that the missing severed thumb/palm will illuminate as required when “Andrew” severs his thumb on the bandsaw. Used during the scene in which “Little Miss” (played by the lovely Embeth Davitz) nearly reveals her hidden love for “Andrew”, before telling him that she’s engaged to be married. A wonderful special effectsprop, showing the intricate detail and craftsmanship required to stage key visual effects scenes. Estimate $1,000 – $1,500
