A Cammie King costume likely from Gone with the Wind

A Cammie King costume likely from “Gone with the Wind” Selznick International Pictures/Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, 1939. A small jacket made of nubby black, gray, and white wool with a collar, a four button front closure and two waist-flaps together with a matching hat and muff; believed to have been worn by the child actress who played Bonnie Blue Butler in the scene where she and Clark Gable (as Rhett Butler) have just returned from London and she runs up the staircase, holding a kitten, to see her mother, Vivien Leigh (as Scarlett O”Hara). Later, this ensemble was slightly modified for child actress Carol Nugent to wear in the 1947 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film, “Green Dolphin Street” starring Lana Turner; the jacket”s original buttons appear to have been switched and the hat”s royal blue ribbon was changed to a gray one which is still attached. An inside cloth tag with handwritten note in black fountain pen ink reads “Carol Nugent 1394.” (Please note the costume pieces need to be cleaned professionally and the silk lining of the hat has become shredded due to age. Footnote: PROVENANCE: This piece originally sold in the 1970 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer auction; the current owner bought it off the rack towards the end of the auction when thousands of costumes were being sold “grab bag” style.
