1950 promotional Destination Moon spacesuit

Vintage 1950 promotional Destination Moon and The Day the Earth Stood Still space suit used for movie premieres. (George Pal, 1950 and TCF, 1951) This signature space suit was used as a promotional piece by the production company, Eagle-Lion Films, for the films Destination Moon and The Day the Earth Stood Still and was displayed at select theaters during its initial run. Eagle-Lion Films was a British film production company owned by J. Arthur Rank, and became one of the most respected makers of B-movies on what was known as Hollywood”s “Poverty Row”. Includes aluminum space helmet with integrated cloth collar, red heavy canvas jumpsuit, leather belt and strapping, “air tanks”, metal control panel, movie title promo cards, original shipping labels with the Texas theaters to which the suit was shipped and the original trunk which was used for delivery. The cloth suit and helmet are in very good condition. The suit has one burn mark on the right thigh. The leather belt and straps have hardened and there are some breaks, so they could use some restoration. The suit seems appropriate for a man about 5”10.” Also included are five stills from the original release of Destination Moon. $8,000 – $10,000
