This unique prop item is from the television show Stargate SG-1.
This is a screen used, prop, Goa'uld Glider Cannon from multiple episodes of Season 5.
This item was screen used by Teal'c in two key episodes of Season 5. In episode 504, Teal'c detaches a Goa'uld cannon from the base of a crashed death glider to clear the way for the rescue of a Roele who has been captured by an armada of Jaffa. In episode 514, fleeing Tanith's ground troops, Teal'c uses this cannon weapon against an Al'kesh piloted by the minor Goa'uld.
This item was created by the SG-1 prop department for use in production. This item measures approximately 70 inches long. The weapon's tip is made out of a foam-type material. There is a small cut-out at the top back of this item, inside there appears to be a switch, however, this item does not light up. This item does show signs of wear from production.
In the SG-1 series, the Goa'uld cannon is a heavy-duty weapon installed into the ventral end of death gliders. In principle, the Goa'uld cannon is a staff weapon, however its size allows for a larger surplus storage of liquid naquadah, as it is capable of launching far greater bursts of plasmas to suit the needs of the gliders. These cannon can be removed from a downed craft to permit the continued defense of ground forces as the glider has been downed. Few creatures, with the exception of Jaffa, are capable of toting the enormous piece of equipment the required distance into battle, let alone fire it.
