(NBC-TV, 1993-95) This extremely rare pistol is the prototype for the first season standard-issue SeaQuest sidearm. It is constructed of molded resin with a moveable trigger that activates a CO2 cartridge hidden in the grip, emitting a charge from the barrel tip when depressed. It was decided by the producers not to use a working model of the gun, because they could never determine if the weapons were supposed to be bullet or laser weapons. This dilemma was never resolved during the first season, the only time this style weapon was used. The pistol is 8 in. in length, and was acquired from the propmaker who made it for the show. This is the only pistol with an integral CO2 charge ever made. Note: an image of a similar weapon appears on page 145 of the 1994 book entitled SeaQuest DSV: The Official Publication of the Series.
