(Syndicated TV, 1994-98) This original PPG (Phased Plasma Gun) pistol was used in the pilot episode/movie entitled “The Gathering”. It is constructed of molded fiberglass with a grip that folds away from a flat, equally-sized body painted black with a grey stripe. There were four of these made, and currently there is only one other still known to exist. This particular one is the close-up piece that was made for the star of the show. The original design of the famous PPG was changed drastically after the pilot episode, although it was used a couple of times later in the series as an alien weapon. The pistol was originally acquired from a propmaker for the show; it measures 9 in. in length, fully extended. Note: an image of this weapon appears on page 74 the 1996 book entitled Creating Babylon Five. Extremely rare and important, this is literally the very first PPG created for the show!
