(ABC-TV, 1978-79) This fantastic hero rifle was used in the episode “The Long Patrol”, when Starbuck is marooned on an alien planet and taken prisoner. It is constructed of molded black plastic with an intricately wired front clear Lucite barrel, containing five small bulbs which are designed to illuminate when the small microswitch trigger is depressed. (The batteries are not currently charged.) Measures 35 in. long. Believed to be the only surviving hero Proteus guard rifle, this is certainly one of the finest Battlestar Galactica hero weapons in existence, and a wonderful example of the high production values and expert craftsmanship employed in this series.
