An intricate miniature constructed of a polystyrene hull with clear plastic dome, which houses a diorama of green crops and trees bisected by small service roads. Originally made by Doug Trumbull, this miniature was also used in his film Silent Running as one of the space greenhouses, seen prominently in the film and also featured on the poster artwork. Trumbull also created the miniatures for Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey, all of which were destroyed after photography was completed. As Silent Running was Trumbull’s next film, this particular piece may also be the closest relative of a 2001 miniature that one could hope to own. Measures approx. 30 in. in diameter.
