763. Screen-used full-scale animatronic male Velociraptor from Jurassic Park III. (Universal, 2001) Built of foam latex, carbon fiber, aluminum, steel, elastic webbing, epoxy and rubber, this Raptor is an improvement over its predecessor in that it is hydraulically powered, and all the valves and driving elements are internally mounted. The previous Raptor puppets had all their valves and electronics outside the figure or were men in suits or cable-controlled puppets. The valves and manifolds that feed the fluid power to the cylinders are still in place. The foam skin had deteriorated and the figure drifted to the lowest pose, but the power and design elements seen within are wonderful examples of animatronic technology at its best. Measures 53 in. tall (on base) x 12 ft. long.
