(Universal, 2000) This special effects weapon was used against Russell Crowe and Djimon Hounsou (in character as Maximus and Juba) during
the first arena battle by the last standing gladiator, then grabbed by Crowe and used to kill his attacker! The prop has a retractable blade on one side to give the illusion of plunging into the victim, while the other blade slides under the arm. The main body of the prop is made of fiberglass painted grey to resemble metal, while the retractable blade is made of metal. This weapon was originally attached to a wooden staff, visible where it’s been separated at the base. Measures 24 in. x 13 in. Minor crack at the lower joint of retractable blade from production use, otherwise in very good condition. A highly visible prop weapon from this Roman epic.
Estimate $1,500 – $2,000
