(Universal, 2000) This exceptional prop sword is constructed with a metal blade and carved wooden grip, pommel and hilt, and adorned with gold-plated cast insignia (laurel wreath, god-head and SPQR). The green scabbard is also appointed with gold-plated tip and edging, with sunflower motif near the top edge, and leather strap. This beautiful hero sword was designed to be used by one of the senior Roman officer’s in the Praetorian Guard, and may in fact have been carried by Quintus (Tomas Arana), although it is difficult to positively ID it as his in the final cut of the film. Comes with a letter of authenticity from Gladiator technical advisor John R. Eagle.
