Hanks salvages these shoes from one of the pilots who perished in the crash, and cuts the toes out of the shoes to fit his feet. Comes with a certificate of authenticity from Fox. These modified shoes evoke not only the tragedy of the crash, but the courage of Hanks’ character in the face of overwhelming adversity and isolation. Hanks was nominated by the Academy for Best Actor for his work in this film.
