Raiders Of The Lost Ark, 1981: an original Golden Idol,
the Aztec-style figure in cold-cast bronze with green patination, mounted on wooden base, together with a set of reproduction lobby cards, a b/w production still of Rodney Fuller, SPFX technician on the film, and a Lost Ark Productions (U.K.) Ltd. compliments slip, idol 19cm (7½in) high
Footnote:
The Golden Idol is central to the beginning of the first of the Indiana Jones trilogy, when Dr. Henry Jones, played by Harrison Ford, battles through South American jungle and faces various dangers to retrieve the priceless figure from within an ancient tepmple.
A number of idols were produced in different materials for the production: that offered here is one of several produced with the required weight for the sequence when Jones replaces it with a bag of dirt.
