(Paramount, 1984) This prop machete was used in the film just prior to the famous Rope Bridge sequence, with rope hoop around the handle and silver reflective tape on the blade. The shape and style of this machete perfectly matches one wielded by a Thuggee who confronts Indy just before he crosses the Rope Bridge. Several variations of machete were used for this sequence, all of which are easy to identify on-screen. In fact, there is a major continuity error in this scene: Indy whips a machete from the hand of one Thuggee, and it flies off into the distance. In the next shot, we see Indy holding what is supposed to be the very same machete! Originally acquired from the film’s property master, this is one of the most important and identifiable machetes from the trilogy to have survived.
