Universal, 1982) This full-scale E.T. figure was used for the Universal Studios Hollywood attraction “E.T. – The Adventure”. This was the actual figure that would speak the names of people as they exited the ride! At one time, this figure was mounted internally with animatronics, but these were removed when the figure was retired after the right arm developed splits at the wrist and elbow. Constructed of airbrushed foam rubber over a steel skeleton, with realistic glass eyes, the figure measures 44 in. tall with a 59 in. arm span, and is mounted on a wooden base. Originally acquired through a specially-arranged sale from the Universal Studios gift shop, where it was on display.
