879. Ray Harryhausen Siren figurehead model from The Golden Voyage of Sinbad. (Columbia, 1974) Static cast-rubber production model of the Siren figurehead from the prow of Sinbad's ship, which master special-effects wizard Ray Harryhausen brings to life with his beloved and charming style of stop-motion animation. This 9 x 10" cast model from a hand-sculpted mold is contemporaneous to the film's production, and could also quite possibly have been used in stop motion frames, as the effect of motion would require other such models with variations of pose. Gifted by Harryhausen to director John Landis, whose own films such as An American Werewolf in London have utilized their fair share of special effects. Original Ray Harryhausen animation artifacts rarely come to market as he tended to keep everything himself. Custom mounted on green wooden display base, the painted-rubber structure of the figure is remarkably well preserved showing only dust accumulation from age. Very Fine.
