873. Steve McQueen period double-breasted wool suit from Papillon. (Allied Artists, 1973) Double-breasted period-styled 3-piece suit of silk-lined heavy black wool, pinstriped in gold, as worn by Steve McQueen in one of his most memorable roles, that of real-life French convict Henri Charriere in the film of his imprisoned life, Papillon.Designed by Anthony Powell for the dream sequence which takes McQueen's character off the island prison to a life of freedom and pleasure. Vest bears the internal label of Western Costume Co., which is inscribed "No. 2058-1, Steve McQueen, Chest 40½, Waist 33" plus a rubber stamp "A #22 SUIT 3 pc" which is repeated on the internal waistband of the pants. Excellent condition with virtually no sign of wear or use.
